Soul Purpose
Oh Soul so tender
How you flinch at my touch !
A purplish glow
Replaces the Light
Revealing the bruises
Inflicted by
Life
Why choose this suffering?
Divine creator
of chaos
I cry…
And I plead
Take me back to the beginning !
Oh how I yearn to know!
I am willing
Heart wide open
Listening
Waiting
For enlightenment
to unfold…
When the hair stands up on my forearms and I get tingling skin, I know I have read greatness.

I truly believe the wait is all a necessary part of the journey, the process. Look at how you are affecting people with your writing. You shower us with blessings, Colleen, when you share your thoughts. *HUG*

Thank you. I am pleased you like it 🙂

I know you are writing for a different kind of ‘beginning’…. but, I flashed on the face of one of my confirmation students tonight, trying to wrap his mind around creation… his pain was different, as so many adults were telling him so many different things.
Poetry is really, really good when it can take the reader to a different place than the writer… not that your place isn’t worth going to… I got that, really I did… this is actually a strangely worded compliment! 🙂

I understand exactly what you mean Cindy.
Although the concepts / labels / traditions regarding “Creator” and “Birth of the Soul” can differ slightly, I think the underlying premise is the same…that of coming to the understanding that we born into this life with a spiritual purpose that becomes clouded by the distractions of life; and that ultimately spiritual fulfillment is achieved through the journey of unveiling that purpose and intent, once so pure and untainted by the diversions that life throws at us.
And thank you for the compliment. I’m pleased you were able to draw a message from my out pouring of frustration ….with a little hopefullness mixed in !

So strong the yearning that is delivered here – like cry from the center of the heart – open – surely there is that which answers and create s within, such desire to understand, to wait.

Oh it was definitely a cry from the heart of primal proportions ! Thank you for your encouragement.

I like the way you’ve
arranged things, Colleen!
I feel as if I know
exactly where you stand.
I wish I had a porpoise,
my Flipper would show me sights
unseen from these here cornfields
that surround me night and day.
Maya has an unworldly way of deceiving us, yes.
If I remember correctly, The Master only sent me
here to fetch a pail of water, and I’ve not been
back to finish that chore yet, quite obviously.
Hope you fell better soon. Hugz! UT

Colleen,
It is such a joy to watch a beautiful young woman and her soul unfold before our eyes. When you bare your soul, you invite us to go with you, to bare our souls, too. May your words forever bless us.
Love,

Hi Colleen,
Your poem is very open, honest and heart-rendering. I think you’ve touched many people here with your clarity, it won’t be in vain.
Do you know the song ‘Tender’ by Blur? It’s a beautiful song and carries a similar message, your poem reminded me of it. If you don’t know it, look on youtube, think you’ll like it.

Thanks TigerCity,
I jumped on YouTube this morning and have been listening to Tender over and over. I see what you mean…the same sense of longing is there. Thanks for pointing me to this !
