Hello,
Thank you. It was taken a couple of months ago at our local art and craft market by a photographer from the Cairns Post (local newspaper). We were on the front page ! Actually we seem to get snapped quite often out an about on the weekends so now its a running joke between us to look out for the “paparazzi” !
Thank you for your comment on Chloe’s blog. She has just woken up (it’s early Sunday morning) so when she comes down stairs I’ll suggest she checks her mail (she will be chuffed ! a few votes of confidence is just what she needs.)

Thanks for commenting. Her words make me a little sad because she is referring to her relationship with her father. Yet I am proud and astounded that she can articulate her hurt at his abandonment of her with such poise and depth. On the surface it appears she still is happy to engage with him on a lighthearted, silly sort of level …and sadly that’s all she’s ever going to get out of him. But clearly there’s much more going on underneath. I guess that she has a realistic view of what he is and isn’t capable of will set her in good stead for her expectations of him in her future.

Oh yeah….totally got it! Every level of it. Have much personal experience with the issure. Both as a child and as an adult in proximity to a child processing severe abandonment. Whereas it took me years of therapy and reading and peeling layers ad naseum to understand and let go, these children (your daughter included) seem to process as they go. Blows my mind!!!!

I can see why. Oh my word, I just left her a note. Dad better get his act together and fast. She’s unbelievable. Well with you for a Mum, it’s easy to see how she got that way.

Thank you Sara. She’s a quiet soul who doesn’t like to speak negatively about him and it’s been difficult to tell what she’s really feeling about everything inside. So her words have been a sad, but reassuring awakening to me that she does have a solid perspective on the situation. Better now than struggling with an unrealistic idealisation. (Though my heart still cracks a little for her ofcourse.)

My daughter(14) is into creative writing, too.
And I do enjoy reading her homework.

That she is…yet so shy ! I wanted to tell her teacher how her poem was published on Sara the Story Lady, but she won’t let me, concerned that her classmates will thinks she’s writing about a boy. I can understand where she’s coming from although I’m so proud of her I just want to broadcast it to the world !
