Riding Rainbows
Little girls
My growing girls
Your sweet giggles of innocence
Still tippy-toe
Across my heart
Hear my whispers
Kissed gently upon you
Listen for their song
That only silence knows
Keep riding rainbows
My Little Girls
For loves, thrills and adventures
Lie eagerly in wait
Stretch yourselves with courage
(And delight !)
Through the clouds that will float by
‘Til your finger tips come to rest
Upon your horizons
And when your dreams and ambitions
Land momentarily
To catch their breath
Toss me a star
And I’ll join you there…
Here is a star from Arizona. May I come play too? Joy is so contagious.

Hi Scott. Thank you. Yes, that’s the city (aka..smallish town) of Cairns with the magnificent hills in the background. When there is rain the sun still shines through at every chance in Cairns so the rainbows are often this spectacular.

It’s a miracle that this beautiful poem, overflowing with love can come from the 8 year old child who experienced only hate and fear from her own mother. Thank God you transcended the torturous wounds your mother lived with and inflicted upon your innocent child self. Do you realize how strong that 8 year old must have been to be such an amazing mother now? Love and gratitude always, Sharie
April 9, 2010 at 12:25 am
Thank you Shari. yes I do acknowledge how strong the eight year old me was and I think the process of allowing her to tell her story this way validates that for me. It’s the greatest pleasure to direct my energy into creating the best relationship I can with my girls and not allowing any hurt or bitterness from my own experience cloud what we can create together. Thank you for visiting and commenting.

I loved this. I have boys… and wish them nothing less…
Loved the entire sentiment – but, especially these lines..
“For loves, thrills and adventures lie eagerly in wait.
Stretch yourselves with courage (And delight !)”
courage and delight can help us stretch a long way.. can’t they? =)
April 20, 2010 at 9:30 am
That it can. I think it’s essential to seek out the “delight”… 🙂 Glad you appreciated my words. They spilled out…straight from the heart.

Beautiful photo and prose!! Rainbows are a miraculous reminder that there is ALWAYS beauty after the storm.
Dreams, hope and faith in something better keep us going….searching for that colorful, elusive rainbow in the horizon. Very done!
